YOU ARE STILL BECOMING WHO YOU’RE MEANT TO BE

One of the hard things about vulnerability is that it creates open space. When you have said what you have been meaning to say and when you have made what you’ve been meaning to make, now you have to wait. You’ve opened up your heart, you’ve shared the hard thing…and now, you just have to wait to see what the response will be. In whatever open space you are finding yourself in today, I hope you know that in that space, even though you feel exposed to the elements, unsure of what comes next, you are free to find shelter in the arms of peace. And maybe this is what “peace” looks like here:

“I have said what I have been wanting to say.
I have been courageous, and I have been brave
and it is absolutely okay to take a moment to breathe
even without knowing what the response will be.
Because I am free to trust:
the strength it took to open up this way still matters.
I have traveled just a little further into the clearing, even though I have been afraid.
And no matter my uncertainty, the sun is shining on me.
Even in the silence and the waiting, out in the open,
I am still becoming who I am meant to be.”

May you read these words to yourself in those moments where you are certain that you have done too much or not enough. When your mind is overwhelmed by all of the possibilities of what could be, remember the ground beneath your feet. Remember your soul is steady, even out here, in the clearing, in the waiting.

To be vulnerable and open-hearted may be one of the hardest things you ever do. But even in the waiting, you have done the brave thing. You have chosen to be present and alive, even though you do not know what the outcome will be.

May you continue to lean into grace, as you journey through the clearing.
