YOU ARE ENOUGH TO MATTER HERE

In this season, may we be reminded to:

Sow seeds of faithfulness:

To sow seeds of faithfulness is to sow seeds of choosing to show up for the work, even when it’s hard. In life, there will definitely be times to dig up, let go and throw away, and there will also be times to stay. There will be times you could choose to not dig up the roots just yet and hold out for the next rain. Not everything in life works this way, but faithfulness is learning to trust and see what things lie beneath the surface that you need to commit to. Be the one who looks out for what needs to be dug up, and also, what needs to continue being watered, pruned, and cared for. What’s hard about this is that there’s not always an easy solution for everything. Sometimes a beautiful bloom is actually poisonous and deadly, and sometimes an “ugly” plant is actually good for the ecosystem. Be committed to learning how to pay attention to what needs to stay and what needs to go. Know that it is not always easy, but it is necessary for healthy growth. Stay the course. Don’t give up just yet. If it’s not smooth every day, that doesn’t mean you have failed. Keep going. Keep making notes of what you’re learning. Tell others. Be brave, commit.

Sow seeds of humility:

To be humble is to know that no one is above or beneath you. We all have various positions and titles in the world, but there is no established ranking as to who is more important than the other. There are many actions in this world that cause much more harm than others, but may we never forget that in one way or another, we all fail. We all fall short. It’s on each of us to be mindful in all of our pursuits

to be good,
useful,
significant,
capable,
secure,
in control,
stable, loved—

We are all human beings with a soul, on a journey of becoming who we were meant to be. We are all very much in progress. Some are aware of this and others are not, but the more important thing is that we extend grace to ourselves and to one another. We choose to sow seeds of kindness because we know how much it means when someone is kind to us. We show grace because we know what it’s like to really want a second chance. Sowing seeds of humility can be complicated, messy, and even confusing at times, especially when we live in a world where so many of us have been made to feel small. And with all this considered, there is much more I could say about humility, but perhaps this is a part of sowing those seeds every day: doing whatever we can to show others that no one deserves to feel smaller than someone else because they are not successful, pretty, or big enough. You are no less because of your “status” in the world. You, as you are, are enough to matter here.

May this be a season of making room for one another to be who they were meant to be.
May this be a season of recognizing the beauty and importance of making it possible for others to feel loved, heard, and seen.
