ONE DAY, YOU WILL LOOK BACK AND BE SO GLAD YOU DID NOT SETTLE

One day, you will look back and be so glad you did not settle. You will be so glad you did not sync yourself to someone else’s pace, and you chose instead to anchor yourself in the steady rhythms of grace. You will arrive on those blue-white shores, and you will be so glad you did not settle. You will be so glad you did not give up. You will be grateful that even though the length of the wait was unexpected, you found unexpected hope too, and it gave you room to be at peace while you waited to see what would be revealed to you. And you will find that in the end, after everything you went through, you still arrived where you needed to be, right on time, and everything was fine. Not perfect, but fine, and every beautiful thing happened in its time.

And you know what? It’s okay if you don’t feel that yet. It’s okay if you miss what was, and you are grieving the change of pace just when you thought something beautiful was about to settle into place. It’s okay if you can’t get excited about “growing” or “getting stronger” because you're afraid of what the future might ask of you.

It’s okay because these feelings are natural on the journey through the valley. You can’t see what’s ahead. It’s natural to feel this. If you're longing for clarity and understanding about what’s happening and you’re craving answers about why certain things are the way they are in the world and also in your heart, it’s okay. For all of these things, there is grace.

So remember, as you carry on with your questions that seem so far out of reach of solid answers, it is not strange to have felt the weight of it all. It is okay to notice and acknowledge those things, while still seeking daily peace, strength, and hope for the present moment and for those future blue-white shores in the distance.

Keep your focus on the path beneath your feet. You are moving along much more than you think, even in uncertainty.
