MAY YOUR JOY BE GREATER THAN YOUR FEARS
Perhaps the moment you are beginning to doubt yourself is also the moment that fear is distracting you from what you already know to be true: all along, there has been more to you. All along, even through the most uncertain moments of your life, Light has never stopped pouring in. Your story has not stopped unfolding. And even though there are so many things to figure out, this is still the moment to trust and keep going. And even when it is entirely possible that something might not work out, it is just as possible that something will. Doubt does not have to win here. And neither does fear. It is entirely worth it to carry on, knowing there is wisdom and strength to be gathered no matter how tomorrow goes.
May your hope be greater than your doubts.
May your joy be greater than your fears.
May you be more aware of how you are learning and growing than you are aware of the things in your life that feel stagnant. And this does not mean that those things do not exist, but it means that you are allowing yourself to recognize that there is so much more to who you are.
For sometimes, it is all too easy to notice everything that is missing in the room you are in. It is far too easy to see who is not there instead of who is. And just like that, the feeling of emptiness settles in, even though there are so many little things you have to be grateful for. So make note of every song, every word that has resonated with you. Remember the kind soul that took the time to listen. Even if it was not the person you thought it would be. Even if you are wanting a little more than an encouraging song to sing, all of these things are pointing to something greater: there are so many things to take delight in, even in the waiting, when you are sorting through your doubts about yourself.
So take delight in the little things that mean something to you. You do not have to have every small detail of your life sorted out to appreciate the small and seemingly insignificant. For even if you knew you were going to have all of the answers you were looking for a year and a month from now, you would inevitably still have doubts, and things you had to figure out. “Was that really what I wanted? Will that be where I want to be? What will I do if I get there and find out that I want an entirely different thing?”
There will always be unknowns and questions that you will wrestle with, but there will also be endless grace that shows up where you are today, and reminds you: things will inevitably change, but you will grow all the same. You will not be bound to worry. You will not be chained to doubt. Your story will continue to unfold no matter what you have or have not figured out.
