LOVE WILL CONTINUE TO FIND YOU
It is impossible to be perfect, but it is still possible to experience freedom in the arms of love. It is still possible to believe in a love that is greater than you, that goes beyond what you can see. And it is also possible to see that the same love you see is others in bold and radiant within you, too. Even when you feel alone, discouraged, or heartbroken, love is still able to find you.
Remember this when you feel that you have somehow been emptied of your ability to know what love truly means. Perhaps your trust has been broken and you feel vulnerable to triggers to remind you of it over and over again. Maybe you have given so much to someone you care about, but they took your love for granted. You find yourself trying so hard not to be bitter about the way you were treated, but in those moments it seems impossible. And perhaps, you just don’t feel worthy of love. You are all too aware of your imperfections and the things that hold you back, and it is hard to imagine how anyone could have the capacity to hold all of that, and still love you for who you are.
Love is complicated and hard to fully understand, especially when your heart has been broken. It is hard to imagine how love could be available to you when you have faced so much rejection. It can be hard to even try to make sense of what ‘Eternal love might mean when you have been let down by love so many times. But no matter the bad examples of attempts at love that you have seen, true love is still unconditional. Love is still patient. Love is still kind.
You may never be able to meet another human being who exhibits love in the perfect way, but even in the well of the most heartbroken, difficult people, there is a desire to love and to be loved. It is not on you to try to make everyone know and act on love in the way they should. But you can choose to still believe even though you do not know how others will give or receive love, love is still real, and you are free to act on it. You are free to believe that even when your heart was broken, you can still experience love. Romantic love. Sisterly love. Eternal love.
Keep hope. Not all has been lost. You have not seen the bounds of love yet and what it means in your life. Have faith that even after all the years you have been alive, you are only just beginning. You have been in the ocean for the longest time, but there are still further depths to pursue. Love will continue to find you. You will continue to be surprised by the beautiful reality that as shadow-filled and cold as this world can be, there are still people out there who are willing to give love freely. And you have every right to be one of those people...especially if you have been broken. Because if you have been heartbroken in any way, you know how precious love is. You know it is something that is not to be taken for granted. So give love. Be love. Know that even on this journey of understanding what love truly means, you are not too imperfect or too broken to experience the richness that love brings to this life.
