YOU ARE FREE TO PACE YOURSELF

Take heart,
breathe deep,
You are free to
to pace yourself.
You are free to move through this day
in the way you were meant to
without comparing yourself to anyone else.

There have been seasons of life where the only option you felt like you had was to run until you couldn’t run anymore. You had deadlines to meet and goals to reach and slowing down was not an option.

But now, you’re wiser. You’re learning to listen to your body. You’re learning to pay attention to the natural rhythms of the world around you and understand how that applies to you too.

Slowly but surely, you’re feeling the pressure begin to soften. You’re beginning to discover who you are in the stillness of the moment.

I just hope you know that any effort you’ve been putting in to learn how to pace yourself is meaningful, valuable work that will matter for the rest of your journey. And even beyond your own journey, by learning how to pace yourself, you’re becoming an example to other people in your life. Even if they don’t say anything, you have the power to be an inspiration to others as they also learn how to make room for rest, play, and learning how to pace themselves.

So here’s just a little reminder to keep taking those deep breaths. Keep taking the naps you need. Keep seeking out moments to encounter peace, right here in the chaos of things. We need more people who are willing to pace themselves and not compare their journey to anyone else.

So give yourself some credit for all the work you’ve already done in learning how to pace yourself. Your progress matters, no matter your pace.

Word of the Day: Pace (v): consistent and continuous speed in walking, running, or moving (Oxford Languages)
