NEVER FORGET HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME
I hope
with every new season
comes a sense
of a new beginning.
A sense that letting go
makes room
for to you welcome
all that lies before you.
For with every new season
you are leaving something behind.
And you are also carrying something with you:
the courage to continue
to breathe through
new unknowns.
Breathe deep, knowing:
you have known unknowns before,
and you’re stepping into this new season
with wisdom and deep knowing
to carry on, with grace.
Inevitably, you will face challenges.
You will face mountains
you never imagined you would climb.
The earth beneath you
will quake and you will wonder
how to steady yourself
when everything feels as if it could fall apart.
And in the same place, there will be room for you
to remember who you are:
a living, breathing soul who has learned to trust
even when it seemed impossible.
Remember who you are.
Remember who you are.
And let it find its way into the lining of your memory.
Never forget how far you have come.
Never let the uncertainty keep you
from practicing courage out in the open.
Come to life in this new season
more than you have in seasons before.
Let go where you need to go.
Hold on to what is good and true.
Inhale and exhale fully and deeply,
as if life depended on it.
Take up space.
