MAYBE YOU WERE MEANT TO LET GO AND TRUST
The work you do matters, even when it is hard to see. And this is also true: The work you do is only one part of your life. Even if you merely exist, your presence matters. This doesn't mean you shouldn't do anything with your life, but it does mean that on your off days and in your off-seasons, the value of your life itself has not changed. Whether you feel accomplished in your work right now or not, your presence still matters. You still have value. And you can still be present with love, joy, and grace in meaningful ways. And it may not seem like these things matter in the day-to-day, but I promise you, they are in the heart of it all. I promise you, it's those glorious hidden things that actually bring about transformation in our lives and those around us.
So hold on to the glorious and beyond-the-physical and let that be the place where you begin to remember who you are. Let your heart pursue hope and your mind pursue peace. Let it be the place where you are reminded that this is where I find home, saying, "This is where I begin to discover and rediscover what I am worth."
Even in the best-case scenario, if everyone were singing your praises, you were at the height of your career, and everything in your personal life was exactly where you wanted it to be, none of these things would mean more than embodying love. None of these things would have more value than being the one who simply chooses to wear a posture of empathy and peace in your community and within yourself.
Remember who you are by remembering what matters most. Remember who you are by constantly reminding yourself: You are more than your appearance." You are more than your work. You are more than the role you play. You are more than what others have said you are. You are more than what you have said about yourself. You are. You simply are, and you will continue to encounter grace at every place on the journey.
