HOW DOES LETTING GO LEAD TO GROWTH AND POSSIBILITY?
How does letting go lead to growth and possibility?
We can look at the blooming process of a flower:
Initially, a flower exists as a bud, containing its potential within a tight, confined space. As it lets go of this protective but restrictive state, it gradually opens up, revealing its full beauty and essence.
But one thing that is important to know about the flower’s blooming is that its components are both strong and delicate. Strong in the way that it endures changing conditions, and delicate in the way that it requires specific care and nurturing.
Perhaps the same is true when it comes to the ways we “let go into our bloom.” After we’ve embraced the reality that all along, we’ve been blooming in our lives, there will still be a point at which we learn to embrace all that it means to bloom. Even after we have decided that we are going to act on courage or open up more or leave spaces that we seek to outgrow, there will still come a time when we enter that phase again, as a flower who is blooming. That’s where the “letting go” comes in. Remember that you are “letting go” into your bloom. It’s a process defined by surrender and trust, and this process is a part of what shapes us. You might notice this in moments such as this:
When you finally start to speak up for yourself and others don’t respond in the way you thought they would.
When other people seem uncomfortable with things such as your confidence, your boundaries, or success.
When you start to realize that even though you may have used to fear failing, there is fear that comes with succeeding too.
These are just a few examples of how blooming still comes with weathering storms and challenges that can be hard to make sense of and lead to conflicting feelings and can make it hard to figure out what the process of “blooming” in a particular space in life is supposed to even be like.
And that is where the recognition of the need to find the strength to let go, to continue to unfold despite the doubt, fear, and rejection, matters more than you know. To be like a flower in this way is not to be something that is weak and only mildly valuable, but instead, rich and filled with possibility, as you learn to embrace the strong and delicate parts of who you are. Let the process of letting go into your bloom be filled with opportunities to embrace who you are with a sense of courageous wholeness because you know that even though it comes with new experiences that you must learn how to navigate, you are also becoming more aware and more free as you go...as you bloom.
